Development of Test Method for Evaluating Root Resistance Using Simulated Root focus on the Enlargement Growth of Root

چکیده
Damages such as rising and cracking due to enlargement growth of roots are quite often observed in the components such as path pavements, curbs, retaining walls and garden furniture on green roof. To avoid the defects, root resistance of those components used for green roof should be estimated by a suitable test before actual applications of them. In this study a test apparatus and a test method to evaluate root resistance caused by enlargement growth of root were developed. First, the simulated root for similarly reproducing the enlargement growth was developed on the basis of the actual behavior of the root of a cherry tree. It consists of two half cylinders of aluminum and a hydraulic jack inserted between them, and the whole simulated root covered with EVA sheet to give the similar mechanical property of the root. Then, the root resistance test was carried out using the simulated root for an asphaltic pavement as an example. It was observed that the test result of nature of asphaltic pavement damage was similar to that observed on actual asphaltic pavements. It was found that the simulated root was useful for evaluating root resistance.

Fungus-plant associations are of the most important mutually beneficial relationships in the ecosystem which positive effects on growth, physiology and ecology of different plants have been already demonstrated. Biological methods such as employing symbiotic (arbuscular mycorrhizal) fungi to roots of plants are considered as potential effective ways of reducing the stressful effects of soil con...
متن کاملThe Role of Root Canal Preparation on Apical Geometry: A Review of the Literature
The amounts of apical enlargement have been a controversial issue for a long time. The enlargement of the apical part of the canal may severely impact the endodontic prognosis. Enlargement of the apical portion to a larger size may negatively affect the ability to control the filling material during root canal obturation. In addition, an open-apex increases the risk for overfilling which has be...

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the limits of irrigationwater salinity and soil water content for growth inhibition of vetiver. Moreover, different models were studied to describe the root water uptake and plant topgrowth under salinity and water stresses in a pot experiment. Irrigation treatmentsconsisted of three irrigation intervals (3, 6 and 9-day). The salinity levels of...

Background: Candidiasis is the most common human infection in the world, and is considered a dangerous disease in people with a weak immune system because of their low resistance to antifungal drugs, the frequent recurrence of infections, and the known complications of chemical drugs. The antifungal properties of different parts of Echium italicum were compared with antibiotics for the first ti...
